In 1994, the Gilfillan Estate hosted its first Farmfest show, and since then the annual event has grown significantly.

Buildings have been erected, and the number of vendors and attendees has increased.

So, when the gates officially open Tuesday morning one can only expect a bigger and better show than has ever been held.

According to the agenda, it looks as if that is going to be the case, as a good mix of activities have been planned for the three-day ag exposition.

Tuesday morning begins with a discussion of the farm bill, which is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. Several ag representatives, as well as Congressional leaders are part of the forum panel.

Tuesday afternoon includes a forum featuring Sen. Al Franken. The topic of the 1:15 p.m. forum is “The Future Direction of Renewable Energy Policy.”

Later in the day Tuesday, at 3 p.m. a presentation on “enhancing ag production and water quality with managed drainage systems” is being offered.

The Wednesday schedule also includes a forum entitled “Viewing the Agriculture Industry from a Media Perspective,” and it features a variety of state media representatives who are going to talk about how mainstream media views the ag industry.  Click here to view the entire article!
