Riverside Animal Clinic in Springfield – currently owned by Springfield-based veterinarians Dr. Phil Gill, Dr. Phil Sadler, Dr. Jason Beyer – has been a going concern for over 40 years. Nevertheless, when the opportunity came to possibly expand into a nearby community last summer, they considered it. “We had talked around the idea of purchasing [Redwood Veterinarians} if Dr. Madsen and Dr. Nelson were interested in selling,” Dr. Sadler said last week in the new clinic he co-owns. The Riverside Animal Clinic officially took ownership of Redwood Veterinarians on Nov. 1. The three doctors added a fourth last month, “Dr. Christina Wagner, to help cover our extra client base,” Sadler said. Sadler said the four veterinarians are all generalists. “Everybody does everything; before, the practice here was about 75 percent large animal, and 25 percent small animals such as pets,” said Sadler. “We don’t expect that to change.” Also not changing: the Redwood clinic’s long time staff. However, the new veterinarians to plan on offering a few new services to the community, such as ultrasounds for animal pregnancies, and laparoscopic work for sheep and goats. Currently the four veterinarians are on a rotating schedule, with one coming to the Redwood Falls clinic every weekday. “It’s been a fairly smooth transition, and so far everyone in Redwood has been very welcoming,” Sadler said.
