The city’s plan for the Redwood Falls airport includes enhancements to runway safety, in part to meet Federal Aviation Agency requirements.  As part of that effort, on Tuesday the Redwood Falls City Council approved purchase agreements for approximately eight acres of land near the airport.  When the purchases are complete, long-planned obstruction removal and future maintenance to the runways can begin.  The total cost of the enhancements is planned for $159,309, of which 90 percent ($143,378) would be paid by the federal government.  The remainder would be divided equally between the state and city governments.
