Sponsors sought for Redwood County Share the Spirit 2017

In 2016, Redwood County Share the Spirit helped 235 families.

Through the program, those families, including 531 children, received a Christmas meal and gifts free of charge, and all of that is made possible through the generosity of people from this area.

While it may seem that Christmas is still a long way away, the reality is that as of today there are not that many days left until the annual Share the Spirit distribution event begins in Redwood Falls. Applications for families that are served through the program are currently being accepted and will be until Nov. 28.

According to Char Ellig, one of the co-coordinators of Redwood County Share the Spirit, letters were sent out in October to those entities, such as human services, churches and other service organizations, that can refer people to the program.

“November is here, and it is time to think about Share the Spirit,” said Ellig, adding last year the approximate budget for the program was $20,000.

So, the need for donations to help this year is now.
