Redwood County farmer Andrew Rasmussen has won the opportunity to direct a $2,500 dollar donation from the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, to Redwood Valley High School.

Redwood Valley High School will use the funds to provide training for Lisa Orren, the RVHS ag education teacher, to attend a Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) training in the plant science area.

The CASE program provides teachers with proper information to teach hands-on laboratory exercises that are student directed and inquiry based to help promote core concepts.

“Thank you for providing us with this generous donation. The lessons we obtain from this curriculum are aligned to the national agricultural education standards to provide our students with superior knowledge in the agri-science areas. In addition, it will not only enhance my knowledge of plant science area, but it will affect the future generations of Redwood Valley High School for years to come,” said Orren.

The Grow Communities program’s purpose is to make a positive impact in farm communities by partnering with farmers to support the causes that are important to them in their communities.

Each year, farmers enter for a chance to win a $2,500 donation that they direct to a local non-profit organization.
